Volunteers supporting YWCA

Since the 1850s, the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) USA has been advocating for the empowerment, leadership, and rights of women and girls in the United States.

YWCA USA is a multicultural organization that gives women in need essential health and wellness programs, job training, and financial literacy courses, among others. It is the largest provider of shelter services and resources to women and children who have survived gender-based violence.

In addition, it advances causes especially benefiting women and girls of color, such as racial justice, civil rights, economic advancement, and health and safety. It also provides educational programs for scholarship and early child development. One of its aims is to close the gender gap in STEM.

To help fund their causes, they welcome financial donations, including those coursed through Amazon Smile. It also accepts all types of vehicles.

Some local chapters, such as YWCA Spokane and YWCA Westmoreland County, maintain donation centers. Commonly accepted items at these chapters include clothing, accessories, shoes, small household items, jewelry, toys, and more.

If you’re unable to find any YWCA locations near you, why not try the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Both maintain thousands of donation bins and thrift stores around the country.

Local chapters, such as YWCA Seattle and YWCA North Central Washington, operate their own thrift shops and/or donation bins.

The organization’s national office is based in Washington, DC. It has over 200 chapters all over the United States, with many more locations accepting clothing donations in Washington StateOhioIllinoisPennsylvaniaNew York, and California.
